Thinking about visiting a Chiropractor in Sheffield?
Here’s an overview of how we work at the Birley Chiropractic Clinic and what to expect if you do decide to visit us for a treatment.
As registered Chiropractors and primary healthcare professionals, we specialise in the diagnosis, treatment and overall management of conditions that are due to problems with the joints, ligaments, tendons and nerves of the body, particularly those of the spine.
Many people believe that Chiropractors just treat back pain but they can help with so much more. View symptoms we have treated below.
Since our doors opened in 2008 we have helped treat thousands of new patients at the clinic. Our aim is to not only get you out of pain but to make you feel better than you have ever felt before. We take a more hands on approach to treatment and treat the cause of problems rather than just the symptoms.
If you decide to visit us you can rest assured you are in safe hands. Our experienced team of Chiropractors all have a masters degree in chiropractic and are members of the British Chiropractic Association and registered with the General Chiropractic Council.
What To Expect
All new patients have a consultation before any treatment commences. You will be asked to fill in a medical history questionnaire and your chiropractor will ask you details regarding your complaint.
A thorough assessment will follow to diagnose what is causing your problem. Once a diagnosis has been made, your chiropractor will then give you details about your problem and the next stages to take regarding treatment. If for any reason we are unable to help we will tell you. We have built good relationships with local GP’s and have referral procedures in place.
Our evidence based care consists of a wide range of manipulative techniques designed to improve the function of the joints therefore relieving pain and muscle spasm. All treatments are different and tailored to each individual however, most treatments involve a technique known as an adjustment.
Adjustments are techniques used to release restricted joints in the body that may be the cause of pain. To release restricted joints chiropractors use their hands to put a controlled force through the problem area. This sudden movement of the joint results in an audible crack which is caused by the release of gas on the surfaces of the joints.
Research has shown that chiropractic adjustments are not only safe but also a very effective way to create movement to restricted joints. Creating movement allows areas of tension to be released ultimately relieving pain. Other techniques that may be used by our chiropractors include stretching, acupuncture techniques, muscle releasing techniques and rehab exercises.
